The government has confirmed that the primary PE & Sport Premium will continue at £320 million for the 2022/23 academic year.
This funding is ring fenced and allocated directly to primary schools across England, providing them with a dedicated resource to buy in invaluable expertise and support. Funding is allocated through a lump sum for each school and a per-pupil top-up mechanism. The formula references the number of primary-aged pupils (i.e. children between the ages of 5 and 11).
We want our children to be resilient, empathetic, ambitious and independent. These life skills can be learned through the delivery of quality PE and daily physical activity.
The impact on PE, school sport and physical activity is measured against the 5 indicators:
Sport at Whitemoor
At Whitemoor Academy, we recognise the importance of health and fitness and ensure that every child in school receives a minimum of two hours of PE within curriculum time each week. In addition, we also offer after school and lunch time sport clubs.
Physical activity is promoted throughout the school day in many different ways from cross curricular outdoor learning to competing in events outside of school.
We actively encourage children to participate in sporting events in our locality through collaboration with the Aspire Academy Trust, through our involvement with the Mid Cornwall Sports Network as well as in collaboration with the schools in our cluster.
Children have many opportunities to take part in activities such as cross country, hockey, tag rugby, netball and football but we also aim to involve children in activities that our locality provides. These include beach safety, kayaking, surfing and coasteering.
Success and participation in sports both in and out of school are regularly celebrated in assemblies. We are proud of our pupils’ achievements and want the children and parents to be proud of also.
What is the Sports Premium?
The Government provides funding to provide new, substantial primary school sport. This funding is being jointly provided by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport, and will see money going directly to primary school head teachers to spend on improving the quality of sport and PE for all their children.

Partnership
Whitemoor Academy is part of The Aspire Academy Trust. Through Aspire, we are able to offer our pupils a range of sporting opportunities including access to large competitive events.
Whitemoor Academy is also one of a cluster of schools that form the Brannel Cluster. Meeting every half term we endeavour to share best practice and facilitate opportunities for KS1 and KS2 children to participate in competition and skills development.
Alongside this, Whitemoor Academy are members of the Mid Cornwall Sports Network. This allows the children to compete in competitions and games across a wider area.
Whitemoor has seen increasing success in competition, reflecting our improvement in all areas, and we are continuing to make this a school where pupils can engage in a wide variety of extracurricular sporting activities in every cohort. We intend to use the sport premium to accelerate this upward trend.
Funding
We have been allocated funds by the government to enable us to further improve the provision and standards of PE at the school. The funding has been provided jointly by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport and is only to be spent on PE, working out to approximately £8,500 each year.
